FIRST-TIME buyers made up around 40% of all home purchases in Scotland during the first three months of this year – but needed an average deposit of 23%.

In a bid to help, housebuilder Redrow is to offer would-be owners the chance to talk to financial advisers this weekend at Riverside Point, in Renfrew.

Sales manager Mary McHutchison said: “We can help new buyers get that all important initial foot hold on the property ladder.”
